Math Teacher
About

My name is Zachary Bonin. I am the math teacher from the lower levels through grade 7. I’m 30 years old, and I grew up in Louisiana. There, I got my bachelor’s degree in engineering (majoring in civil engineering) and worked as an engineer for several years. During college, I worked in an after-school program called “Engineering-Is-Elementary” that introduced 3rd-grade gifted students to STEM concepts. I enjoyed being a math tutor throughout high school and college.

Great Minds Learning Community excites me because it is something I wish I had had as a child. My experience with public school, as well as both of my parents being public school teachers, has shown me that a one-size-fits-all approach to education can be detrimental to kids’ experience in academia. From having anxiety, ADHD, and being in the gifted program myself, I understand the importance of taking a personalized approach to twice-exceptional kids. I believe the GMLC’s approach is extremely important, and I’m excited to contribute!

I have two dogs, Maeby and Manny (both mixed breeds). I enjoy walking my dogs, hiking, video games, board games, alternative music, Dungeons & Dragons, Sci-fi/fantasy books, and I play Kayak Polo weekly in Ladybird Lake.
