About
Hello! My name is Billie Fishburn, and I’m a Assistant Teacher at Great Minds Learning Community. I earned my BFA in Photography from Stephen F. Austin State University, with minors in Painting and Anthropology. I’ve called the Austin area home for the past 10 years, working in both creative and educational spaces throughout that time.
I’ve worn many hats—from photo lab technician to school portrait photographer, to leading after-school enrichment programs in art and science with Mad Science and Creative Action. No matter the setting, I’ve always been passionate about helping others explore their creativity and curiosity. I currently continue this work both at Great Minds and through my business, Studio Billie Arts, which offers mobile paint parties, film portrait photography, and soon, architecture photography tours.
When I’m not in the classroom or behind a camera, I enjoy embroidery, trivia nights, and cooking (especially soups and sauces). I live with my elderly cat, Benjamin, who’s been my sweet sidekick through many creative projects.
As someone who comes from a neurodivergent and artistic family, I care deeply about cultivating learning environments where students are celebrated for who they are. I’m thrilled to be part of the Great Minds team, and I look forward to learning and growing with our community this year!
